Dominic ignored the girl’s hand and picked himself off the floor. “I’m sorry, mate, I ain’t meant to hurt you but you was being rude. No bossy stuff, mister doctor and I won’t bug you never.” she had said. Yeah, you’re off to a great start he thought to himself.

“Your double negatives and obsession with cake is enough to bug me, now you’re throwing me on the floor. Not a great way to start. Who are you any way? Not that I care, but it would be nice to not have to refer to you as ‘the weird cake girl’. Even though that’s exactly what you are…” he mumbled that last sentence not knowing if she actually heard it or not.
