“Nithel, my friend,” she murmured softly, quiet enough so only he could hear, “are you hurt?  I can help, if I may.”

The softness of the woman’s voice confused him. Badat waka’anaha tahtamu. Sadiqi qal … He looked back to the woman, a small grateful smile on his lips, “It will be alright. Thank you.” His voice was a bit raspy, but not too bad. He was about to ask how she could help when Alessio spoke.

Nithel’s eyes darted forward again.

“I know we haven’t gone very far, but maybe we should rest here for a while.” The youth’s voice was even. “Does anyone else have a story?”

Nithel smiled a bit more at Alessio’s question, ‘Another story’, eyes twinkling. The youth stopped, causing the rest of them to do the same, and looked back.

Nithel’s chest warmed a bit, trying make out Alessio’s face in the darkness. *thoughts and feelings, longing*

‘Stories have power. They will change you. It is your choice of how.’
