With a yelp Riure tumbled from the air. Sadiq barked, whined, and growled at once somewhere above her, then Riure hit something – or someone – who let out a surprised whoosh of air. Sadiq landed on top of them both.

“I’m so sorry,” Riure gasped as she pushed Sadiq off and rolled to the side off of the person. They were smaller than she would have thought most of them would be, and didn’t clank around like the guy Ehud had called Blockbuster, but that didn’t give her many clues as to who it was. She dizzily got to her feet and stumbled a few steps backward, trying not to laugh as she gave the person their space. Someone bumped her, or she bumped them, and she lost her balance and fell with a crash into a pile of hard box-like things. There she sat and laughed. Who in VaSerBo would ever believe that she had flown?

“Move where?” New Voice said, somewhere to Riure’s left. “‘Cause I’d like to go home. After all, I’m pretty sure my mom wouldn’t like me going places with complete strangers in an evener strange place…” he laughed nervously. Riure thought she could pick out Liorah and Gavril arguing, but she decided to leave them to it and focused on Ehud’s squeaky voice.

“I’m sorry, we’ll get you outta this…I think…I mean how bad can–ohmygosh, Riure!”

Riure squeaked as Ehud ran up. Sadiq growled as he grabbed her hand. “Riure! I am so sorry I completely forgot are you ok?!”

Still stammering apologies, Ehud helped Riure to her feet, kicking the boxes away.

“Ohmygosh, you’re ok, I am so so sorry, I’m sorry, I didn’t even think–I’m sorry…”

Riure laughed and said, “It’s fine, Ehud,” but her words were lost as suddenly Ehud jerked away, still holding Riure’s hands, still talking.

“I’m adopting both of them, Rosy!” he crowed happily.

Both of them? I’m getting adopted? Riure stifled a laugh. Well, THAT’S never happened before.
