Riure squealed with delight as Sadiq pulled her through the air. Or, at least, she thought Sadiq was pulling her through the air. She couldn’t quite be sure. The only thing she knew was that sometimes she was upside-down and other times she wasn’t, both of which were fine with her.
“Is this, like, something that normally happens here?” someone asked. Riure cocked her head, her laughter fading. This was a new voice? Another new arrival?
“Of course it is. You mean you don’t do this every Thursday?” Liorah, definitely. (By the way, Rose, Thursday is officially the Go Berserk And Do Every Weird Thing Imaginable day at my house, so this was extremely funny for me. XD) “I mean, who wouldn’t want to be bitten and scratched by supernatural, green-blooded beasts, almost fall down a bottomless abyss, get locked in a room and forced to pick out half to die, under the threat of being dropped to our death and the half that stayed behind was– what was it again, Gav?”
“I believe the castle threatened to squash us, but it didn’t quite follow through,” the prince replied, his voice taunt. Riure frowned. Didn’t he think this was fun? Maybe she should go over and make sure he was okay. That thought made her laugh. What could she, blind, useless Riure, do for seeing, noble Prince Gavril? She was ridiculous sometimes.
The prince and princess bantered back and forth for a little, their voices coming from first one section of the room, then another, then a third. Riure couldn’t tell if it was her movement or theirs, but it was oddly unnerving.
“Actually,” New Voice said. “I do this every Monday, not Thursday. So hopefully you can excuse my initial confusion.”
Riure’s mind automatically did an analysis of the voice. Male. Higher pitched, just starting to have voice cracks, so probably a boy, either a tween or young teen. He’s kind of got an accent, but I can’t place it. Not anything I’ve heard in VaSerBo, sadly. She sighed, wrapping her arms tighter around Sadiq’s middle as she found herself wishing someone who knew her world would randomly show up. Then she laughed. It felt like Sadiq was trying to swim through the air, and that tickled fur up her nose.
“What’s normal to the spider is chaos to the fly!” Ehud hooted, his voice implying that he had just zoomed by Riure. She laughed as Sadiq growled and they did a slow spin. Whatever was happening, she was determined to enjoy it. One never knew when death might come knocking, whether in the form of a castle intent to kill you or something else.
“Wait–I assuming that means I’m the fly….so who’s the spider in this situation?” New Voice spoke again.
Then a lot of other things happened but I’m too lazy to write them all out since y’all already know what happened, but basically when the thing exploded Riure screamed, curled herself around Sadiq, and drifted around completely helpless. 🙂 There! Now I’m caught up Thwapling style. 😉 😛
