When the youth held out his hand Nithel didn’t know what to do. Was it some sort of greeting?
Pretend he knew what to do? No. That would be lying.
He didn’t move closer, keeping several feet or yards between them. Nithel lifted his raes hand, like one about to take an oath, and nodded to him. “Jaylin; calm, or inner strength. I am Nithel son of Father.” But the formality was shorter, as his body still tingled. Nithel lowered his palm to his side and glanced around more.
Seconds later, the passage began to fill with smog.
