@gabriellepollack Sorry for the late reply, although its look like you got a lot of good advice

I don’t want to go on for too long at risk of repeating what they say, but I’d say, yeah, do the resurrection; first of all, it seems like you really need it for the story, and second, I think you can make it seem more like a consequential event if Ace has to give up his immortality for it (obviously). But what I mean is, it might feel less like a cheat to the reader in the story when it comes with a heavy price; plus, like you said you can always kill off the character again. Also, maybe losing his immortality is a lot more of a blow for Ace than just getting a shorter life, it could pain him in other ways like completely changing how he sees the world and making him constantly afraid he will die after that.
