According to the Alliance of Leviathan, the Reflections were founded to determine who among the population were the smartest and strongest– and most capable to lead the nation that covered the globe. Those who won would be given an education at the University, the last college existing in the world. Those who lost would be forgotten, their names, not even engraved on a tombstone, left for only their family members to remember.
Em Gades knows what’s coming for her in her life. Even as an orphan, she’s well provided for, with a servant and a bodyguard to keep her safe from the dangers of the rebel citizens of the Alliance. Sure, her parents never were chosen to compete in the Reflections, but they still managed to make enough money for her to live well after their deaths.
Then she receives the silver envelope summoning her to the Reflections. It’s the chance of a lifetime– the possibility of being formally educated, making a name for herself among the handful of Leaders of the Alliance. But the hope is overshadowed by a warning: she may perish if she accepts the opportunity.
Death and deception lie around every corner as Em navigates the complicated relationships and tests of the Reflections, knowing that she has the potential to make something great out of her life– if only it lasts that long.
Hey everyone! I need beta readers– well, maybe not beta readers. Gamma readers? Because this is the third round of readers I need before I’m going to start querying *cue cheering and mild panicking*
I don’t mean to discriminate against those who have never beta read before, but I really need people who have experience beta-ing and feel like they can adequately give me some final feedback on my book. It’s, 327 pages, TNR, double spaced, 89,999 words, 36 chapters. I’ll attach the content guide at the bottom. I’d need betas to be able to finish reading/editing by October 15 so that I can finish editing and send out my first queries in November.
