@corkybookworm Thank you for your input!
The thing with Aldred is that while he is sixteen, he often acts a whole lot younger. In my novel I introduce him in a more serious situation and his age is easier to see. Cook is a little cliche, but as I wrote her in the story I liked her so much that I didn’t feel like I could change her and still do her justice. So, yeah, she is definitely cliche. The darger is supposed to be like a mongoose with bird wings on its back, but the wings are too small to lift it into the air but it can glide with them. Do you have any suggestions on how to improve that?
Cook wanted to catch the darger and get it out of the castle, but she didn’t want it running lose to get back into her food stores. That’s why she didn’t want it running out the door into the hall. Do you know how I can make that more clear?
The descriptions that you suggested are really excellent. Thank you very much for reading and telling me what you think. 🙂
