“When will he be back?” Leona sighed, “The days are so lonely without him,” she laughed softly to herself, “Though he’s always so quiet when he is here. There’s just something about him that’s comforting. I guess it helps me think about something other than the darkness I live in,”

“Though, being blind seems almost like a blessing in this city. You don’t have to see all the horrible things that other people see,” she sighed.

A soft bird-like whistle sounded at the door and her face lit up, “There he is! Back so soon!” She picked up her walking stick and stood up, “Coming Logan,”

The way she walked, you almost couldn’t tell that she was blind. She had learned her way around the house so well. When she reached the door, she grasped the knob and pulled open the door.

“Hello Logan,” she smiled up at him.

“Hello, Leona. I brought someone to keep you company,”

Her face grew even brighter, “Who is it?”

“Her name is Rhioe. I’m carrying her because her ankle’s broken,”

“Oh my! Come in,” she stepped to one side. “Are you alright Rhioe?”
