Alright, here it is, let me know if it’s good or not.

    ——————-

Judah knelt by the small cot where lay Aura’s small form. The girl’s eyes were shut and her face was so pale that every second he wondered if she still lived. In his one hand he held her small wrist, straining to fell her ever-slowing pulse, while the other lay on her head. He bit his lip and tried to blink the tears from his blue eyes. Life in this city was so hard for everyone, but it was harder for the children then for anyone else.

Aura’s big dark blue-green eyes opened at the moment and turned to his face. They looked sadder than ever know darkened by sickness. She spoke in a tiny, weak voice, “Judah. . . am- am I dying?

Her words stabbed through Judah’s like a knife. How could he answer her? What could he say? All he knew was that he had to comfort her. He managed a comforting smile and kissing her forehead said, “Of course not. You’ll be all better in a little while. I promise. Rhioe will make you all better,”

“You promise?” her eyes were earnest.

“I promise,” he squeezed her wrist.

“Then I know it’s true,” she weakly returned the smile, then groaned in pain, “Thank you Judah. Can- can you tell me a story?”

“Of course,” Judah lifted Aura and, sitting down on the cot, held her in his arms and told her as beautiful a story as he could think of in this desolate city. Aura listen for a while, then grew more feverish and delirious. It took all Judah’s might to keep from breaking down in tears.

Finally after what seemed like forever, the door opened. Judah looked up. “Rhioe!”
