What if the hole in the alleyway led to a boarded up house, because the occupants had died, or because the house became to unstable, and they moved in, because it just looks like a dead-end to the alley, and no one could find them?

The tunnel would be short and lead directly into a dusty, house, full of cobwebs and spiders. Maybe it’d have some broken furniture?
