Good point! I didn’t really mean for the code to be “the one thing” that solved the case, just one of many facts. I changed the order of their conversation around a bit. See if that clarifies things. 🙂

Another thing I could do to make this work better is change the old line when Wayne showed Christian how to open the door. Instead of him saying they look for wear, simply says the four-digit code to Christian.

Now that you’ve read it, I have a few more questions:

1. Did the antagonist seem believable? Did the motive make sense? Did the situation sound plausible? Did he act believable in the “reveal” scene?

2. Did the mystery make sense? Did it feel like the answer was foreshadowed enough? Did you feel the antagonist was too obvious? Do you believe there were enough clues to point to the conclusion?

3. Any other notes? About Characters? About pacing? About setting?
