I must agree with what Sarah and Lin said. I think tracing is a great way to learn if someone is too scared to start drawing without tracing, and of course, it’s just fun. And a super important part of making art is enjoying the process. I think if you’re tracing for those reasons, and not, to pretend you’re someone you aren’t and like, make money or something then it’s great. Using a projector would pretty much be tracing right? And as for grids, I don’t think they’re that much different from like, the guidelines we use to help us understand the form or flow of whatever we’re trying to do. I would see it differently than tracing because you’re still using a lot of brainpower to make sense of how to draw it. It’s more like a short cut I guess? Personally, I hate using grids because anything that technical feels more like a math problem than a painting and drives me batty,
(I’m terrible at math)but I have nothing against other people using them haha. (Just like I have nothing against people who enjoy math.) xD
