@mairin-atha You should totally do it when you can afford it!
Most long-time hardcore editors will be around $1,500 for a full edit on a 50,000 word novel, if I remember correctly. (Around $0.025 per word.)
Over the last year, I’ve noticed a lot of writers open up freelance editing businesses, and they’re a lot cheaper, but they’re less of a guarantee for quality editing.
You can check out Jeff Gerke’s page for some examples of a really good, award winning editor and his apprentices.
Self promo, but I’ve been editing for quite a while and my prices are much cheaper ($0.0051 per word = $255 for 50k full edit). Not award winning, but I do have a certain level of confidence in my abilities. 😂 (That said, I’m just letting you know, not pressuring you to choose me if it comes to it. 😉 )
