I love all the ideas thrown out so far! One thought I had that could help is drawing inspiration from our own (or others’s) converstions.
I agree that it would be good to start with someone who’s already being drawn by God in obvious ways.
In keeping with that idea, it might be better to start with someone who is already not against christianity. To use my sister as an example, she wanted to be a Christian, but didn’t feel she was ‘good enough’because she doubted her salvation, doubted God, etc. She would tell me stories of staring at her pillow and praying “God, if you’re real, make tht pillow fly” and be discouraged when nothing happened. One of the things instrumental to her salvation was the words of the hymn “Dear Refuge of my Weary Soul, which goes “By Oh! When gloomy doubts prevail / I fear to call thee mine / the springs of comfort seem to fail / and all my hopes decline. / But gracious Lord, where shall I flee? / Thou art my only trust / and still my soul should cleave to thee / though prostrate in the dust.” Those words assured my sister that she didn’t need to have the confidence. God provided everything she needed for hersalvation, not her.
Just a thought to get us moving. Her story can be summed up relatively simply (mine is longer, less story-like, and confusing, so I won’t us it as an example). Thoughts?
