@dragongeek, I would definitely recommend a little bit of foreshadowing at least. Because otherwise it seems like it will make the readers feel cheated. I don’t think you have to foreshadow a ton, but even maybe mentioning some odd tingling or something to indicate the dormant powers are starting to surface might help.
