Damian drove quietly, his mind filled with thoughts, his right hand clasping Aria’s hand tightly. He turned off onto a pot hole riddled gravel road, pulling up next to an abandoned warehouse. He got out, pulling Aria out as well and carried her into the dimly lit room. He leaned her against a stack of boxes before turning to the little motor mouth that was still hammering him with questions. He resisted the urge to bear his fangs and instead smiled. “Hey Ben, tell you what. I need you to go stand by that door over there and keep a lookout. If you see anything, and I mean anything, you come get me okay?” The boy nodded and ran off to the door, still chewing on his lollipop. Damian sighed and turned back to Aria.
Her eyes were still glazed over, her breathing slowing as she sank deeper into herself. He reached out, pulling her to him, putting his mouth close to her ear. “Aria.” He whispered. “I don’t know if you can hear me or not, but if you can please come back. We are in a great deal of danger and we need you to come back.” He smiled a little. “If nothing else than to help me deal with the little chatter box Ben. Come back Aria. We need you… I need you-” His voice broke off and seemed to echo into the recesses of his mind. I need you…. I need you….“Damian! I need you to- to end this!”
Damian gazed down into her blue eyes, begging, pleading with him. Tears streamed down his face as sobs racked his body. “I am so sorry, Keara.” He whispered hoarsely as he wiped away the trickle of blood from the corner of her mouth. Her body shudders as the poison worked, slowly killing her. “This is all my fault!” He sobs, clutching her hand is his, not really caring whether he lived or died as he took the pain. She shook her head slowly, her blue eyes dilating. “No… it’s not. I know what Lucien did to you.” Damian grit his teeth with pain and rage. “I don’t care about Lucien. I’m going to kill him!” She shook her head slowly, her breathing becoming more and more labored by the minute. “No, no… that’s what he wants. He wants you to turn. Don’t do it Damian, the world- the world needs you.” She cried out as the pain intensified. She grasped his arm, her knuckles white as she stared wide eyed at him. “Please!” She gasped. “I can’t take it anymore! You have to do it now!” She grabbed his hand, holding it to her stomach. “Please, Dami! I’m dying anyways!” He shook his head, his heart feeling as if it would explode at any moment. “I- can’t!” She grasped his face, pulling it close to hers, her eyes staring deeply into his. Damian tears dripped onto her face, mingling with her own as she moved her lips to speak. “Damian… if you love me… then kill me!”
