Goodness!! I mean, my characters regularly have to face pain, torture(of all kinds, physical, emotional, etc.), the possibility of death, and so on. But I don’t kill them by the batch!!!!!!

Kari: Are you sure about that?

Me: Yes!!!

Kari: What about that ambush you just pulled?

Me: Oh yeah… but the reader isn’t emotionally connected to anyone who died. I don’t even mention names.

Kari: *crosses arms* It’s still a lot of death.

Me: But the reader doesn’t even know who the people who died are!! Even if I did mention names they wouldn’t!!

Kari: *looks at me pointedly*

Me: OKAY OKAY. FINE. I killed a ‘batch’ of characters. You happy now!?
