    1. What are three things you know about characters?

    • Characters should change throughout the story. (Yearnings are important for character arcs.)
    • They must be unique. (The reader should be able to tell which character is speaking without a dialogue tag.)
    • They are the most important part of a story. (Without good characters, the story has already lost.)

    2. What are three things you’d like to know about characters?

    • I would like to learn more about how to make every character different from the others in the story. So many characters can make up a story, it gets tricky.
    • How to write a funny character without it being cliche.
    • How to have an unemotional or overemotional character without them being non-reactive or over-reactive.

    3. What do you believe the crafting of characters has to do with powerful writing?

Characters are the voice of the story. Everything else revolves around them. Your characters’ arcs are the main part of the theme; your characters’ personalities set the tone of the story; your characters’ choices lead the story. If your characters are weak, your writing cannot be powerful.

    4. On a scale of 1-10 (1 being appalling, 10 being stunning) how well do you think you write characters?

    Ummmmm… 4.75?

I usually spend time on SE over the weekends, and I’ll probably just answer the questions over the weekend no matter when they’re posted, so you don’t need to worry about me. (But I guess if you really want to know, Friday or Saturday would work best for me.)
