So we are reading the Black Arrow, by Robert Louis Stevenson, and I am continually amazed by his pacing and suspense. It is phenomenal!
He takes the characters by the rout that makes the most sense, but then tosses things upon them that are so simple but end up taking them out of their way. All without making you feel as if they are simply wasting time to draw the story out more. For example, Dick (protagonist) and his men go to investigate a manor house where they suspect their foes to be lurking. The end purpose is to save a prisoner from the foes, but because of the darkness, the weather, sea sickness, and a beach, they fail to attain their goal.
Anyway. I’m not great at explaining the stuffs, so just go read it! ;P
