So. Thoughts.

I think the writers did a great job with splitting the movie to cover the different escapades of the Avengers. It was great how they each got to meet Thanos. Splitting a book into different POVs is something that’s really hard to do since people can get more attached to some characters than others and will want to see them more. I did feel like I wanted to spend more time with some characters the second time around than the first, but they did well with what they had.

And I think the theme tied all the sections together.

Speaking of theme/message, that was something that kept me thinking about the movie for a long time after. I’m still not sure I’ve got it all figured out. I know it was about sacrifice and love. At times, both sides shared the “needs of the many outweigh the few” mentality. Thanos wanted to murder a ton of people so future generations could have good lives. Many of the Avengers (Gamora and Peter, Wanda and Vis) were willing to sacrifice the love of their life for the needs of humanity as well.

But THEN doctor strange decides to save Tony over stopping Thanos, implying that saving a single life was really the only way to save everyone (assuming that he gave away the stone because he saw the future and realized he needed to save Tony). Loki also Steven’s mentality by giving up the Tesseract at the start of the film to save Thor. And then Cap’s  line, “We don’t trade lives” sort of capped it off (no pun intended).
