Hey! Welcome to the conversation. XD
Anyhow, I thought I’d drop by and just clarify a little bit about what I said about LGTBQA+ and laws/etc…. what I meant is that Christians don’t stand up for themselves. Around 4.5% of the population of America considers themselves LGTBQA+, while a much more massive amount of around 75% considers themselves Christian. And yet, laws like allowing men who identify as women to use the women’s bathroom(which is just setting up for some creep to take advantage of that, in my opinion) are being passed with…. little resistance. Sure, there are petitions that go around and people fight against those laws, but if Christians are supposedly 75% of the population, obviously not enough of us are willing to stand up for what we believe in. Laws like that would be much harder to pass if Christians stopped thinking that going to church and raising their hands in worship is what makes one a Christians.
I’m not saying we should hate people who consider themselves LGTBQA+, or persecute them, what I’m saying is that regardless of the social scorn or hatred from other people, Christians should stand up for their beliefs. That’s why we’re here, isn’t it? To spread the Good News, to make disciples, and to tell the world. Not to sit in church for 2 hours a week and then let the world go on without us because we’re to afraid of what might happen if we actually stand up for what we believe in.
I hope that clears what I said up a little. And I completely agree with you that we should not depend on laws, as they and the world will continue to disappoint us. But in my opinion, we should also stand up for our faith and fight back against laws that are obviously wrong and sinful. If we don’t stand up for what we believe in, we can hardly be called Christians, can we? Our entire purpose on this earth is to follow God’s will, which as spoken by Jesus, is to tell the world. Not to stand by and watch it fall. (Also, take note that I don’t think going to church is bad. Far from it. But only going to church and doing nothing else is what I think is bad. Church is awesome, youth groups are awesome, camps are awesome… but if all you do is go there, and don’t take anything away and apply it to your life, then that is what is bad. I hope that makes sense.)
