@the-fledgling-artist, First of all, I’m sorry I’m just now responding to this, but I wanted to tell you something.

You may never feel like “YES! This is what I’m supposed to do for the rest of my life.” Unfortunately, God doesn’t tell us our calling by planting a giant flashing arrow in the ground saying “take this direction.”

I can relate to you. Here I am as an art “director” at Story Embers, and I still struggle in my calling as an artist as well, it’s certainly not a well-paid profession. I don’t know what my art is doing, but to not make it would feel wrong. Because if you have a passion, a desire to create, God has placed it there for a reason. Don’t let that go to waste. Make art because you love making art. Strive to grow in your style and who you are as a person in what you create, observe from other artists, look at good art (and that doesn’t mean it has to be only art made by Christians) and experiment.

If that is your calling, doors will be opened to you. Try to shove aside those doubts. I know professional artists with large followings who struggle with art as their calling. It’s okay to not have all the answers and all the certainty.

I pray those doubts will settle and you continue to create in spite of them.
