I step forward and tackle-hug Gabby. “I’m so glad to be in your guild! I was hoping to be here! Do you have Kindness with you?”

Springing backwards, I take it all in. “TREEHOUSES! I’ve always wanted to live in the trees! We’ll be like Peet and the Ents in Lothlorien and the Swiss Family Robinson… am I talking too much?”

Yes! Aly, a character in my brain, rolls her eyes. Just get the keys so we can see.

I shoulder my pack, which is complete with a Kindle, computer, Jelly Beans, a water bottle, pom poms, and a wooden knife. I glance at the trees (would have written “scan” here, but my scatterbrained mind doesn’t often let me scan things).

Monkeys. Oh, no, Aly’s voice comes through. Don’t make friends with them. They’ll toss writer’s blocks at you and then you won’t be able to write me. And don’t think of the theme, either. Can’t have you writing emotions into my story.

Emotions. I think about it just to spite Aly. They’re my specialty, apparently, as my ENFP description says I am very emotional. I shift my weight between feet, unable to stop grinning. “Thanks for the introduction, Gabby! I’m off to explore.” I take a step in the direction of the trees.
