@jane-maree Haha, yes, cousins are always so nice 😛 (I have one who’s always trying to push me into a body of water, only to “rescue” me at the last second. Or not.)
This is going to be awesome, guys! It’ll be nice to lighten up and be goofy after doing a rather serious one last time.
Here are some thoughts…
I had the same idea @emily-d has of using an odd POV, but I was thinking of using the paintbrush 😛 If we did something along those lines, maybe we could do a scene while it’s being painted, but some…incidents keep happening that annoy the artist.
My other idea was to have the cliched trio of villains attempt to steal the painting after it is finished (could be any time period, possibly while it was still wet), or as @julia suggested to have them sneak in and mess it up. We could play on the cliches to make it funny.
OR, to combine all that, what if the jealous artist had discovered a way to time travel, and somehow he knew that the cliched trio would attempt to steal the painting. So he time traveled to the time they would try to steal it and set up a way to warp the time so that the painting would still be wet when they tried to get it, even though it was supposed to be several thousand years later. Then when the artist showed up to add the finishing touches to his work, he found his painting ruined and paint smeared all over the floor, and the thieves with paint all over their modern clothes (and probably arguing about some ridiculous thing that the cliched villain trio would argue about). Then the jealous artist would have cleverly devised a way to indirectly ruin the painting, and thus not get caught, while in the meantime the artist of the Mona Lisa and the trio would be extremely confused about what was going on.
If that was the case, we’d probably use omniscient POV so we could show all parts of the story. OR (this is the better idea) it could be a compilation of diary entries from several characters. It would look something like this:
The Truth About the Success of Mr. Evil Jealous Artist (just pretend there’s actual names here :P)
Compiled from the diaries of Mr. Evil Jealous Artist, da Vinci, and Mr. Head-of-the-villain-tri0Â (possibly also from the other villains as well, just to show different details and quirky perspectives based on their personality)
ENTRY ONE: From the diary of Mr. Head-of-the-villain-trio
Shows the villains as they’re trying to steal the painting, dropping some subtle hints about there being someone else behind it that’s messing up their mission.
ENTRY TWO: From the diary of da Vinci
Shows da Vinci as he’s arriving at his studio and finds the mess. Shows everyone’s confusion as the villains are freaking out because they’re in a different century (maybe the wimpy one that likes food is whimpering about how the da Vinci’s ghost has come to haunt them because they’re evil) and the artist is freaking out because these men in strange clothes with strange rectangular objects with glowy screens that change when they’re touched have destroyed his hard work.
ENTRY THREE: From the diary of Mr. Evil Jealous Artist
Shows how Mr. Evil Jealous Artist plotted his revenge on da Vinci for his success and all his snarky, evil thoughts about how he’s going to become the king of the artists.
We could insert totally different personality in each one, add all sorts of quirks, and play on cliches, then maybe even insert some text in between that’s written like a typical internet news article (with the typical bad grammar and messed up punctuation) all about how Mr. Jealous wasn’t such a great artist after all—he just sabotaged da Vinci’s work and made himself famous by copying his style.
What do y’all think?
