I love your ideas, guys! @jenwriter17 I love the idea of writing from the painting’s perspective, especially overhearing what people say about her. Two kinds of character to attribute to her I just thought of:

“She’s looking at me, mom. Her eyes follow me even if I move all the way over here.”

Yes, I am watching you.

“Moooommm, she’s got this really creepy smile!”

Whoever taught you manners, young man?

Or she’s an absolute drama queen and gets offended by everything people say about her, but she can’t actually do anything, because, well, she’s a painting.

Or we could go back in time to see its reception or some misunderstanding surrounding it when it was first painted. Or paintings come to life at some point. Or someone tries to steal the Mona Lisa to impress someone else (who is not impressed by an act of theft…)
