YAYYYYY fellow Sanderfans in my guild. I APPROVE and thank you for starting this thread for me, @ashlyvye. Also, Rithmatist is awesome and really really really needs that sequel that’s been TBD for years. xD

@brandon-miller, YES Calamity was probably the most anti-climactic thing of Sanderson’s I’ve read. Elantris was his first novel, so I feel like he gets some leeway on that. And I haven’t read a ton of his shorter works, sadly–Perfect State I really need to find. Mistborn and the Stormlight Archive are his really good longer works. The ending of the third book in the first Mistborn trilogy (Hero of Ages) is so unexpected and so good and it makes me cry every time. And then once you read that trilogy you can read the shorter Mistborn: Secret History novella which is brilliant because COSMERE (ohoho my friends once you enter the Cosmere there is no coming back. It starts by picking out all the Hoid cameos, like a galaxy-hopping immortal Stan Lee, and then before you know it you’re finding Khriss everywhere and seeing potential for Investiture similarities between worlds and yeah shutting up now SORRY). But the most recent Stormlight Archive book is also good for Cosmere. But reading the first three Mistborn books is probably about the same length as (or maybe a little shorter) than the first Stormlight Archive, so that’s probably a better place to start.

okay now I’m really shutting up sorry i’m just in awe of this man’s worldbuilding skillz okay
