@j-a-penrose WOW! I’ll try condescending my plot for my Fantasy WIP The Talisman into these categories, but be warned it may be lengthy!

    1. Characteristic Moment:

Scheherazade, my MC, is introduced to Rahim, my other MC. Azade’s job is to keep her head on her shoulders, Rahim’s job is to take it off, and not with painkillers. In a moment of desperation, Azade offers to tell the sultan a story, but just until dawn. (Well, longer, but you know what I mean.)

    2. Inciting Incident:

Azade and Rahim have a clash at breakfast one morning (she survived several nights, that’s obvious) and Azade makes the decision to join the rebellion that Ahmed, her former love, has started to overthrow Rahim.

    3. The Moment Of Truth (if it can be described as such):

Rahim leaves for Almas, his brother’s kingdom, deeply troubled because of how close he’s grown to Azade, despite his resistance. Azade, meanwhile, starts planning for Rahim’s assassination only to have her plans interrupted by an attempt on her purity by Zayn, the vizier’s son and Ahmed’s half-brother. (Yup.) When Rahim returns he finds Zayn dead (sort of like a case of self-defense gone wrong) and moves Azade to his chambers, unwittingly letting her into his heart in the process.

    4. The Period Of Despair (a very, very long period… 😏):

After Azade and Rahim have an argument over his relationship with his former sultana Najila, Azade flees to Ahmed’s rebel camp only to return when Rahim sends the palace guards after her. When she arrives, she tells Rahim that there are no more stories to be told and gives him a chance to kill her.

He kisses her instead. (YASSSS, SHIP SHIP SHIP SHIP SHIP 😍😍😍)

BUUUUUUUUTT Azade has forgotten about her promise to Ahmed, and that night Ahmed enters the palace, uses Azade as leverage against Rahim, then slits Azade’s throat with a magical blade and throws Rahim into the dungeons.

(Just great. We’ve got a Sleeping Beauty and a sultan in prison.)

    5. The Surge Of Strength:

Rahim (who’s the counterpart of the Beast in Beauty and The Beast) fights his way out of prison up to the surface, where Ahmed is preparing to break the spell and rule with Azade. Rahim wakes her up instead, Ahmed is defeated, and all is well.

    6. The Denouement:

Azade and Rahim have a second, official marriage ceremony, and the book ends with her telling him a story she heard from her childhood.

And… THAT’S THAT! Thoughts, anyone?  Pretty please?
