Yeah, I’m letting Amazon wait for now, and focusing on improving my writing craft. My goal is to get published through Enclave Publishing if I can, so I’m trying to get much better to be worthy of such an honor! I guess that’s my far-off future goal right there.

Sometimes photographing loved ones does take some convincing. My photography is generally limited to still-life, though I love old architecture or anything that might in any way resemble a castle 😀

Mutant stories . . . like X-Men? 😉 No, I agree, stories and characters change. After some time away, I tend to look at my writing with a new perspective–one closer to the reader’s perspective than it was before. Then my writing either gets better or worse, depending on the initial quality. Sometimes I go back and read and think, “Woah, did I really write that? That’s actually good stuff,” and sometimes I cringe and go, “Oh, I wrote THAT, didn’t I?” and set about furiously editing.

At the moment I’m taking it “easy” as it were, and just writing when the mood or inspiration strikes. I enjoy writing short stories that are like mini backstories to Biblical stories. For instance, what’s the story of the widow of Nain who lost her only son? What was she thinking and feeling just before Jesus walked up and touched her son’s coffin? That type of thing. I also write poetry to express things that God has been teaching me lately. For a novel, I’m working on a story that happened a couple thousand years prior to my trilogy in that same world, but in a different country. I’ve just begun, so I don’t even have an “elevator pitch” yet. Working title is “The King’s Son.” Probably will change later.

If you could pick one of those novels and focus on working it, which would it be? Joining a guild and getting feedback for writing is a great motivator to tackle those bigger projects. Just sayin’ 😉 Oh, and I don’t know if this would be helpful, but I love plotting out my ending before I start writing. That helps motivate me to finish the whole story. If my ending is cool enough, I’m longing to write it, but I know I can’t until the rest of it is done. It helps keep me moving forward 🙂
