@brandon-miller I’ve been running into a similar issue myself! Coming up with content for my blog weekly is a struggle sometimes, so I can imagine coming up with activities is not always easy either. Thank you for all of your hard work on these to help us learn! We appreciate your time and your effort, truly 😀

    a. Well, I missed the first few activities you guys did cause I was a new recruit; however, I read through them and really liked the idea of describing the coffee shop. Everyone did it so well and differently. I also really liked the idea of finding and describing unique details that clue readers into the setting, like a discount banner in a bookstore. And, I loved the mood concept, but the activity was focused on one item, which I found kind of difficult and not as helpful to apply the concept to a larger setting…if that makes sense. Although, I loved the examples and the explanation! Oh, and the critiquing week was awesome!! Oh, and the scavenger hunt was fun too! It provided excellent examples of prose to analyze and model after.

    b. Ooh, could we do a few activities on specific settings: ie. forest vs. dessert vs. jungle vs. mountain vs. ocean, etc. We could take specific settings and hone our abilities to describe those places. Also, setting is more than a place. It’s also a time. We haven’t done any activities that work on describing different times or places in different times.

    c. I kind of struggle with balancing descriptive passages within a large piece. I guess, like continuity? So, making sure the description fits in the story and doesn’t go on too long or is long enough to provide what the readers need. Also, it would be fun to work on some non-generic character descriptions…though, that isn’t exactly setting…it is what populates the setting though XD I don’t really know…I feel like as soon as you introduce a new concept, I’m all like, “Ooh, lemme work on that and get better at that!”

    Go, Rillumen, whoot! 🙂
