So, I have this fantasy character whom I’ve not told you about yet by the name of Terry Darr. He first makes an appearance in a book I want to call The Princess, the Shadow, and the Blacksmith in which he poses as a blacksmith apprentice but he actually is (SPOILER) a accomplished pro at blacksmithing even being taught by a dwarf from a young age. He also is the dreaded Shadow, a mercenary who has been plaguing the country the story is set in. The blacksmith he works for is named Sampson. Skipping along, the Shadow is under employment of a king by the name of Jhon. Eventually, the Shadow sends the last of the information he has to Jhon and then goes back to help the country he was helping to destroy. This is because he became a Christian and realized what King Jhon was trying to do. After this point, Jhon hates the Shadow but he doesn’t know he’s actually Terry Darr, only Sampson does.

Then not in the book, we have Judith, Sampsons niece. She saves the Shadow’s life and innocently removes his mask and discovers he’s Terry Darr.

Skip to later in life when Terry’s like 30 and where more spoilers appear. The Shadow is hired by a princess to be her personal guard. Well, here Terry becomes a little deceptive because he knows but the Princess Annita doesn’t. She does discover it though when there was a midnight attack and Terry didn’t have time to put on his mask. The Shadow was actually her son. Terry had run away when he was a teen without the knowledge of anyone except his tutor, Nid. His mother and father and the rest of his family thought it disgraceful that a princeling and only child to the oldest child of the ruling King wanted to not be king but a mercenary. Terry ran away to be a mercenary.

Skip to when Terry is 35 and he’s still with his mother but not as the Shadow but as her son. Annita and Francis are now king and queen and by tradition, any prince or king of this country (I forgot the name of it but I have it written down somewhere) should be married at this time if not before. Terry is not married and the pressure is on because this tradition has never been broken. Queen Annita invites over many royals to meet Terry and the one we want to know about  is Anne. Anne was the secretly Christian daughter of King Jhon, who still is enemies with the Shadow but doesn’t know about Terry Darr. Terry falls in love with her.

But here comes the headache. Judith is in love with Terry, but Terry sees it just as a good friendship. Judith knows that Terry is the Shadow and I was thinking that it would be a cool rabbit trail if I looked into what if Judith told King Jhon that Terry was the Shadow and therefore she would be able to marry Terry instead of Anne? Unfortunately, I liked the rabbit trail once I went down it and decided to change up Terry’s life that I had written up. But Judith is a Christian, would she betray Terry? And wouldn’t she think that betraying Terry would bring war to Terry’s borders? Anyway, I decided that terry wouldn’t marry Judith but would have Anne or none at all. But I’m stuck on the betraying Judith. Help!
