  • Dangit, I missed my own discussion. 😂 Oh the joys of a hiatus. These are great points, @Daeus-Lamb. I think #3, particularly, seems to be my problem. *goes off to read that article*

    Something I’ve also noticed is that a character’s personality will effect their reactions to the environment, and if the writer isn’t aware of that, the character may come across as flat. When a really timid character walks into a room, the first thing they’re going to do is scan for danger, as opposed to a compassionate character, who’s eyes will be immediately drawn to the waif with the black-eye crouching in a corner.  I think I have a tendency to forget that, so while I know my characters’ personalities very well, I often make their POV environment-reactions identical.
