So, I don’t have much/any advice on the publishing front, but I just had to pop in and comment!

I want to be able to talk about God like its 1880s Kansas, but with the sense of yearning and progress that space provides. I have an agricultural research planet run by an interstellar version of NASA. The rest of the plot is just dealing with disaster and coming of age. Action sequences are at a minimum. The science in question is not particularly lofty or futuristic – crop genetics, not unlike research that you would see today. Maybe some clean energy advancements. A vactrain in disrepair. There’s whispers of better tech on other planets, but this is the frontier.

I LOVE that concept! I love sci-fi, but I’m seldom interested in the Star Wars/Star Trek version of it, where it’s basically just action sequences and tech I don’t understand.

I would love that story so much, the whole idea of a smaller-scale sci-fi story with a western twist is fascinating! Smaller-scale sci-fi is a sorely lacking genre!
