    @merieshenanigans

Oh my goodness, I LOVE all of this. It seems like there is hope for the future of fantasy after all *weeping*

Awww, thank you so much! That makes me so happy!!! šŸ˜€

Okay butĀ the characters?? I had no idea what you meant when you said it’d be chaos but now I think I have some understanding of it, good grief xDD Just imagining the group dynamics is… terrifying but totally awesome.

See, this is what I have to deal with on a daily basis. *Shakes head* It’s an absolute mess, I love it so much XD

Oh, the group dynamic is absolute chaos. Even just the ship dynamics are hysterical. XD

Just yesterday I wrote Liorah and Ferran’s confession to each other. They both ended up crying and yelling at each other. (It’s complicated, but they apologized.)

Meanwhile, Aydin and Faye were right outside arguing about frogs. I feel like this captures the essence of the ships XD

    It’s just… ugh I love it, it’s a mess XD

I ALREADY FEEL SO SORRY FOR THE MAIN VILLAIN. They’re gonna have to put up with a lot (but I’m sure they deserve it lol). Also, her interactions with Gavril must be really interesting. I love good sibling relationships! (Especially when their personalities are like… this.)

Liorah makes her presence everyone else’s problem XD She isn’t stuck with the villains, the villains are stuck with her XD

It is! It’s one of my favorite parts of the series, it’s so complicated and layered.

On surface level, they’re really close. Gavril finds Liorah more amusing than embarrassing and generally supports her. Liorah thinks Gavril is objectively the best person in the world and shows her love by teasing him relentlessly.

When you get one degree deeper, they’re both really jealous of each other. Liorah wants all the love and attention Gavril seems to attract naturally, and Gavril wants the carefree freedom Liorah has always had.

Interestingly enough, they never take it out on each other, but it’s there, and it frustrates both of them because they never bring it up and don’t see that it’s mutual.

And when you expand that to the whole family dynamic, it gets even more interesting. Gavril is trying to fill his late father’s place and is managing it better than expected. But he shouldn’t have to, he’s taking on too much responsibility because he feels like it’s his duty. The situation is messing him up quite spectacularly and nobody notices.

Meanwhile Liorah is acting out in every possible way, trying to get their mother’s attention. She feels neglected and unloved and tries to make up for it with an unhealthily hyper-independant attitude.

And… I got carried away XD Long story short I love writing them, they’re amazing XD

Yes I do know that kind of character! He sounds adorable. I love villain redemptions! (I’m using the words ā€œI love ____ā€ so much here but that doesn’t matter right now) Also good job, looks like we’re both the kind of author who needs to for story purposes create miserable backstories for the sweetest characters *claps hands* In all honesty though, kind babies are my favorite, so I will probably be adopting Aydin along the way.

Exactly, you have to torture your characters now and then XD

Aydin is complicated, which is why I love him so much XD. He’s kind, but he’s not nice. He’s kind in a jaded, stubborn way, where he knows the world is a terrible awful place and he’s going to do his best to make it less so or die in the attempt.

He was a villain and he did some… frankly awful things. (Even I, as the author who loves him dearly, have a very strong ‘yikes’ reaction whenever I think of it XD)

Admittedly, he was trapped in a horrible situation and he was genuinely trying to do the right thing. Most things he did were either the best of two bad choices, miscalculations, or he didn’t consider the consequences enough.

But he’s trying, he’s trying so hard and I think that’s why I love his character. He recognizes he did awful things and feels incredibly guilty about it but he’s really trying to make up for it.

He’s my absolute favorite character, both to write and to talk about XD

YES. Does that mean she’s the one barging into places without knocking all the time xD

LOL, she does XD There’s a notable instance where she barged into Ferran’s house in the middle of a storm without any announcement. (She hadn’t even met him at this point)

Ferran had a very natural reaction of “What are you doing in my house and who are you even?”

Dear Faye completely panicked (she has the social skills of an easily startled deer) and replied “I’m wet” instead of her name.

That really captures the essence of her character, I think XD

why are they like this?? I love it lololol I’m not sure how a romance will develop between the two but it’s gonna be a very entertaining ride, I’m sure.

LOL, I don’t even know XD Ferran and Liorah fit together better than you’d think, but getting there is the hard part.XD Their relationship is so much fun to write because it’s messy, awkward, and still very pure and adorable, somehow all at once.

Guess what? I also have a habit of adopting somewhat obnoxious know-it-all characters who are actually dumb.

No not you too XD I don’t know why but everyone keeps adopting Acyn XD Right, @calidris ??? I have no idea how it happened but I suppose I did something right accidentally XD

Sounds like a much-needed member of the party… stabby queen

Bubbly, girly characters who glory in makeup and swirly skirts and are also shockingly stabby are the absolute best character type and I’m not taking constructive criticism XD

So we have Pax, the MC, the sweet, unassuming cinnamon roll who wears a blindfold thanks to his troublesome fairy gift, frequently gathers animal sidekicks, and when he gets comfortable becomes a lowkey bully but like, in a kind way (according to the others, he has ā€œan evil nicenessā€).

Oooh, does he wear a blindfold throughout the book? That’s actually fascinating, it’s essentially like writing a blind character!

Yessss, that’s the best kind! The ‘aggressively nice’ character types XD Liorah has the same thing and every time she does it it’s just hilarious XD

Animal sidekicks are the best trope and that’s just a fact XD

Lehar – Pax’s unofficial bodyguard. Actually, he’s an old family friend who’s lived in the area since Pax was little, except he was cursed into the form of a tiger fifteen years ago. So imagine a grumpy uncle dude in the form of a tiger, and you’ve got Lehar.

Ohhh, that’s facinating! I have rather a soft spot for mentor characters, they’re always the best!

Erik – a mysterious Trimoorine thief (?) who Pax encounters early on in his journey. He doesn’t go by the name Erik at first, but that’s irrelevant. He’s basically my troubled ā€œbadā€ cinnamon roll who harbors a lot of worries and doubts despite his easygoing nature, but he’s always plunging headfirst into dangerous situations for the sake of other people and it’s really quite problematic.

Oh, yes, I remember Erik! He’s really fun, I can’t wait to see him in action more XD He sounds like one of those uncontrollable characters XD

Della – Erik’s sister (?) who has literally unshakable composure, perfect manners, and rather intimidating fighting skills. Somebody help this girl; she needs a really long vacation after this.

She sounds awesome!!! I love her already! Oh yes, all our characters need a nice long vacation, especially those who end up in charge of all the others XD

FaĆ«ll – in all likelihood the best martial artist on the continent, worshiped by every young’un who ever wanted to kick butt, and a close friend of the current ruler of Amadern (who is also the main antagonist, but that’s irrelevant). I’m still not exactly sure how he ends up with Pax’s crew, seeing as he’s getting on in years and has sense, but so does Lehar so I guess they can share their grievances as wise uncles or whatever.

LOL, I can just imagine them complaining about all these young idiots doing stupid things (Especially Erik) XD

Serena – FaĆ«ll’s niece, a healer’s apprentice who currently cannot speak thanks toĀ anotherĀ fairy curse, the beauty of her town; she and Pax bond over their irritation due to Erik always running off on his own and getting injured, though she’s much better about it and doesn’t have a mean bone in her body.

Ohhhh!! She sounds awesome! I love her concept, and she sounds kinda similar to Faye, who is a healer’s apprentice too! (Or at least, she wants to be XD)

Last but not least, Numair – the fearless, and I mean fearless, jester who knows everything about everything yet cannot juggle. He worked in the royal court of Kaynslie before he decided Pax’s crew was more interesting; apparently he can make choices in his life like that? There’s some possibility that he’s not Kaynslien or even from this continent at all, but… what am I saying, he’s a jester. All jesters are the most mysterious and intriguing characters in fantasy books.

Oh, absolutely they are! He sounds great, I love that he can do everything but juggle XD

There are many other characters, but this comprises the main crew. As you can see, the male-to-female ratio is a bit… unbalanced… but who cares

    That just happens sometimes XD

I’d love to hear more about the world! What are the differences between the continents? How many countries are involved in the story?
