“We’ve got company,” Broker muttered, and the rest of the group got into defense positions.

Solstice bounded up a tree and pulled her hood up. Extending her mind with the force, she evaluated the wolf-people’s friendliness. A hostile aura radiated from the group of figures.

“They’re not on our side,” she hissed down to Jaina.

“Stay low, everyone. We can’t let them see us,” Jaina breathed. A few tense moments passed, and then the wolf-people moved behind the next hill.

“Thank the Force,” Solstice sighed with relief.

She spoke to soon.

Red blaster fire burst from the trees behind them. The hulking form of a wolf-person emerged from the undergrowth, followed by a dozen battle droids.

“We have you cornered, Republic scum!” a battle droid crowed triumphantly.
