Hi. I will join in. 🙂
My favorite fictional world is pretty typical but I’ll stick with Middle Earth. (I need to read some more fantasy hehe. Technically I haven’t read Lord of the rings completely yet, but the Hobbit is awesome and I really like the movies).

I really enjoy the races and how they live differently from one another. The hobbits are peaceful farmers who don’t like heights and must keep a nice social status. The dwarves live in dark mines and don’t seem to mind being dirty or rude. The elves even are different from one another with multiple groups, some live on trees, some live in a thick dark woods: but all elves are graceful, clean, quiet, valuing beauty and peace. Then there are the humans, five wizards and strange creatures and dragons with their own ideas and values.

To apply to our writing: (advice from Josiah probably on an article. 😀 ) think of each race/culture with at least one word to sum it up that makes it distinctive from the others (peaceful, honest, selfish etc.)
Mine is Casque: courageous (and sadly I haven’t figured it out for the other two haha)

If you are writing in a modern time without different races, then maybe think of each family in your story as different from one another. Families tend to share the same personality or something they all are known for: like being on time, or always being late, being stuck-up, or super kind. (And typically kids will follow in example) so maybe that could be a way to make it feel more realistic. I don’t know. 🙂
