“The book that we have seen shows that there is possible another person in here with us. Unless he should appear, we must assume that he will die.”

“But…”

“There are hostiles in this castle with us. At least one person has been killed by the castle’s forces. This other peson is not here and is behind enemy lines. For our own good, we must hope that he will do the same as us. If he lives, he will be trying to survive as well.”

Brendin listened silently as the conversation went on.  The torches began to flicker and sputter in their sprockets, he could feel warmth begin to swell from the mark on his arm and he looked away so no one could see if his eyes had changed color.  Isaac had a point, and he understood.  That didn’t make him any less angered by it.
