It’s all good. I don’t have as much time to come to the forums as I like either, but I am grateful that this community exists.

Ahh, why I like Words of Radiance over Oathbringer is a fantastic question, one I am more than happy to answer. 🙂 I’ve been a long time Sanderson fan and The Stormlight Archive is perhaps his best series.

Words of Radiance, in my opinion, is the greatest of the series so far due to the story’s narrative flow being very nearly perfect. Without giving spoilers away to those who wish to read it but haven’t yet, my favorite scene, one in which I couldn’t put the book down, was the Adolin shard bearer duel. I listen to a lot of audiobooks due to my long commute to and from work and I was in the middle of the shard bearer duel scene when I reached home the day I was listening to it. Instead of turning the audiobook off when I went inside my house (which is what I normally do), I had to continue listening to it until the end of the scene/chapter. It was awesome.

Oathbringer, on the other hand, is a mixed bag. There are parts of it that are really awesome, then other parts where the book drags or has other issues. There were also some issues I had with both Kaladin’s and Shallan’s characters. Some of the things they said/did in the book either didn’t feel like their characters would say/do those things or it felt like they were regressing in their characters arcs instead of progressing (Shallan in particular in this instance).

I’m curious to hear your thoughts on these two books (or even all three). What about Oathbringer do you like over the others in the series?

My first finished novelette is about a woman named Kara who has to infiltrate a lair of dragons to retrieve dragon’s blood which is rumored to have healing properties to save her dying daughter.

My other 2 finished works I wrote for my two daughters.

The first of these is a novelette about a girl named Heather whose horse is kidnapped by a dragon that appears from a portal in the sky and she makes her way into the dragon’s world to save her horse who is like a close friend to her.

The second of these is a novella which is still in first draft form. I really need to go through revisions on this one so I can actually read it to my daughters. 🙂 It’s about a girl named Jennifer whose sister is captured by a wizard who lives in a tower near her village. This wizard keeps on the lookout for those with magical powers in the village and kidnaps them. Those in the village never see anyone “Taken” by the wizard again. Jennifer’s sister, Gwen, had recently developed her magical powers but was told by her parents to keep them hidden. Apparently, it didn’t work. Jennifer meets a talking mouse who had escaped from the wizard. The mouse’s own family is being kept by the wizard as test subjects for his magical experiments. Together the two work to infiltrate the wizard’s tower and rescue Jennifer’s sister, Gwen, and the mice still being held captive.

Perhaps writing a shorter work may help to finish a project? It is really rewarding when a project is completed.
