Oooh great topic! It’s so true sometimes we writers have to take the pressure off ourselves and remember why we love to write in the first place.

Also your point about being our own audience also really helps me tone down the preachiness in my stories and just let the words be honest about myself and the world. Because I think my truest voice comes out when I write not what I think someone else would have me to say, but what I need to hear myself.

Also just writing an impromptu scene with your characters that you may have no intentions on using in the story is super helpful to finding your voice again. (kind like the idea behind out character lounge.)
