Hmm… 1) study other people – what makes them unique, distinctive, from others, and 2) find the right words to draw them out for the reader on page 😛  And 3) still make it work in the plot. Currently, I’m working on studying personalities… and even trying to see if I can get one of my characters imitating another character I read from a book (tweaking things here and there of course).
