My WIP:

I have one “completed” work in the form of a first draft. It’s a romantic historical fiction novel set in 1870’s Richmond, VA, and is about a former plantation owner’s daughter who has given up hope of finding love. She’s devoted to her widowed father, who is struggling to keep what remains of the family’s plantation intact. His old nemesis surfaces with a nefarious scheme to take control of the family’s property and possessions, and a dark past is uncovered. I am still working on this project largely because when I started it, I “pantsed” a lot of it, and as I learned more about plot and staging the acts of the story, I realized I needed to go back and redirect some areas of the story. I’m in the process of trying to do a general outline to tighten up the plot and rewrite the necessary areas. I’ve learned so much over the past year or so about story structure, and I’m really looking forward to finishing this project up. It was so much fun to write! 🙂
