“I vote for Brendin,” The words slipped from her mouth without Asena realizing. They had been snatched off her tongue, manipulated across her lips.

She had not spoken them of her own free will. Narrowing her eyes, she glared at the gathered people, uncertain of what to do. She didn’t want anyone to perish, but to save them, it seemed like a worthy enough cause.

Better than one die than all of us. She thought.
