Rúan watched as a new boy made his way over to Quin and sat down. Both their faces were solemn.

Quin’s small frame was hunched over, and a seed of guilt and pity earthed itself in the soil of Rúan’s heart.

He was bearing the whole weight of being called out as a murderer.

What a lie.

As if his body had taken initiative, Rúan slowly stood, making his way over to the boys.

He stopped a good two feet away and asked, “Do you … do you mind if I sit with you two?”
