I haven’t revised a long draft yet, so I’m not sure what to say, as going through a novella on a sentence-by-sentence basis like I do for short stories probably isn’t sustainable. I generally look for plot holes, realistic actions/dialogue, and making the setting more vivid.

An alpha reader would probably be a good idea. It would take a little bit of time, but then the perspective you’d get would help a lot.

Also, you should keep a copy of your first draft somewhere, so you can look back on it and use it if you need to.
