Conversation has lulled for a while; perhaps we’re all mulling over what Clarissa has said. The guildmaster remains silent, and I pull myself from reveries of the dark hallways and vengeful ghosts to notice that someone stands in the periphery of the room.

I don’t recognize the person, but I can sense in the way he stands a subdued eagerness. Something like I have no idea what’s going on, and at the same time, I belong with all of you. 

Weren’t we all there before?

Also, is he holding a hedgehog?

“Come,” I beckon. “Come sit, because there’s a chair for you. And, as Rachel here was saying, why don’t you go ahead and tell us your story?”
