@seekjustice That’s so neat! I definitely can relate to this. The small extent to which I can visualize things, they must be things that I am already very familiar with.

@kelly-lundgren No way! I can’t even comprehend what it must be like having such a vivid imagination and then trying to communicate that via words! Especially about dreams – mine are sooooo visually vague it’s almost crazy.

@devastate-lasting That is a good point – about humans not being able to come up with truly original faces. It’s so strange how the mind works, sometimes.

For me, I can’t even visualize a person at all, though. XD I’m aware that I’m thinking of a character, and I roughly know (mentally) what they ought to look like, but for the life of me I can’t actually “see” them in my head.

@sarah-inkdragon I think face blindness would be related to memory/visual recall more than to one’s mind’s eye/imagination. I’m sure they are related to some degree, though.

Very neat about the semi-photographic memory. I once thought I had something very similar, but it only really works with words and numbers – and much less now than when I was younger. But this explains why I’m good at math, spelling, memorizing text – and less good at remembering visual/color details and/or sequences (basically the inverse of your memory, lol).

I’m honestly fascinated by the fact that you can replay your own dreams. First off, my own dreams are impossibly vague – if I even have them at all. It’s so foreign to think that you could go back again and again…

@lady-frosttongue The particular strengths of your imagination are so intriguing. This whole conversation is one that I find very fascinating. Everyone has very different strengths and degrees in their imaginations, and that just blows my mind. I suppose I’ve always known this to some degree or another, so it doesn’t exactly surprise me, but seeing just how varied the range of possibility is… it’s really cool.

I would be so interested in learning how this effects the kind of stories that each of us like, or are more prone to write. I wonder if there is any correlation here…
