What if we show 2 characters, saying a tearful goodbye as one parts to go to a different country for the next 2 years for school? The characters write back and forth over the 2 years, and we give some snippets from them, kind of telling the story of the passing years through them. The character that left writes a letter confessing his love and mails it. A week behind the letter, he goes home, school over. He’s getting a job back in his home city. Procrastinating from nerves, he drops in on his good friend, the postman, who he used to know when he lived there. The postman tells him that yes, she did get his letter last night, but had mentioned that she was so tired, she would have to sleep before reading it. He goes with beating heart to visit her. There is no reply to his knocks or ringing the doorbell. To his surprise, the door is unlocked; she must really have been tired! He goes into her room, finding her form on the bed, an unopened letter resting by her outstretched hand on the nightstand. When he tries to wake her up… nothing. After calling the hospital, he flips over the unopened letter and sees his handwriting scrawled across it. His letter. Unopened. He hears the ambulance, and the doctors come in. He’s still holding the sealed envelope when they tell him, “It was a heart attack.”
