  • @katthewriter nice!

@scarletimmortalized Ahh, I’ve actually had that same struggle before. Because I started off with guys, when I tried to switch back to girls I ended up with a few flat, boring female characters, even though my male characters were really good.

It’s definitely great to have a guy to beta read, but even if you don’t have anyone with that amount of time on their hands, even just shooting a small scene or character profile to a guy can be super helpful. Often the advice I get on small scenes can really help with the overall book at the same time.

@jessi-rae backstory and context affect the character reactions so much, that’s a great point!

I love how much of a range we’ve got in this group. Girls writing girls. Girls writing guys. Guys writing guys. Guys writing girls. It’s just great to see everyone trying all the different things. 😊

@faith_blum That’s a very important thing to note! Guys (just like girls) all have different personalities and there’s no strict ‘all guys do this’. Unfortunately–because that would be a lot easier. 😛
