I’ve got something a little different for you today.

To get you guys thinking about how setting interacts and affects emotion, I’d like you to write up an excerpt that uses the way you describe and use setting to highlight the mood.

Here’s the catch: The setting must initially seem to contrast the emotion your character is feeling. For example, your character could be feeling terrible sadness during a wedding, joy during a blackout, or disgust inside a room full of the worlds most adorable puppies.

Oh, and the section can’t be longer than 100 words.

*EDIT: I failed to clarify that the setting can be described through the character’s eyes and their current emotional state. The atmosphere must contrast the emotion, BUT it doesn’t have to be described like it does so, if that makes sense. It can still be shown through the character’s eyes. Anyway, those of you who’ve already done the prompt without the clarification did a fantastic job. 🙂

No, this isn’t part of the Guild Wars (which you guys did fantastic at, btw. I’m so proud of you all 😀 ). I just thought it would be fun to do a little activity and stretch our skills. 🙂

If you’d like, we can also read each other’s pieces and offer encouragement and suggestions on how to make them even better.

    Happy writing! 🙂
