I don’t know if this is the best example I’ve seen, but Darth Vader’s relationship with his son was sort of non-stereotypical, what with the hand-chopping that went on.

Just kidding. XD Honestly, I thought Hiccup’s mom from How to Train Your Dragon 2 really broke the mold. She and Hiccup were actually on the same side, instead of butting heads. (Although his relationship with his dad was the norm as far as fiction goes…and then Stoic died)

*Tries to think of other examples but ends up coming up with a bunch of parents who died* Good grief! Daeus was right.

Anyway, I’m looking forward to hearing other thoughts on this. 🙂
